Water damaged phone repair in London, switch it off and bring it in
Dropped it in water, spilled a drink on it, or seeing a moisture warning? Switch the phone off and bring it to Bloomsbury or Moorgate as soon as you can. We open it up, clean out the liquid and corrosion, and tell you what can be saved before any repair work starts. If we cannot fix it, you pay nothing.
Straight answer: switch a wet phone off straight away, don’t charge it, and bring it to InstaTech London at 67 Marchmont Street (Bloomsbury) or 16 City Road (Moorgate) as soon as you can. We open the phone, clean out the liquid and corrosion, test each part and tell you what can be saved before any repair work starts. The diagnostic is free, and if we can’t fix it you pay nothing. Water resistance is not waterproofing, so a phone can still be damaged by a drop in water or a spill. If the phone won’t turn on, we can check your photos and contacts first.

Tap what happened
The first hour matters most. Here is what to do, and what not to do, before you bring it in.
Switch it off and keep it off
Take it out, power it off, and don’t charge it or press buttons to test it. Remove the case and SIM tray, dry the outside with a lint-free cloth and bring it in. Skip the rice: it doesn’t draw water out of the phone and can leave dust and starch in the ports.
Drinks corrode faster than water
Coffee, juice, beer and sea water leave sugar and salt behind, which corrode the board faster than clean water. Switch it off, don’t charge it, and bring it in as soon as you can so we can clean the residue out.
Unplug it and let the port dry
A moisture warning means liquid is sitting in the port. Unplug the cable and don’t force it to charge. If the warning stays once the phone is dry, the port may be corroding. See our charging port repair.
Working now doesn’t mean it’s fine
Speakers, cameras, Face ID and the screen can fail days later as corrosion spreads. If your phone got wet and is now glitching, back it up and bring it in for the free diagnostic before more parts are affected.
Don’t keep trying to switch it on
Repeatedly powering a wet phone can short the board. Leave it off and bring it in. We check the board and the battery, and if the phone can’t be saved we can tell you whether your photos and contacts can be recovered.
