The glass has gone, the display underneath is fine
On most modern phones the glass and display are bonded together, so it is the same screen assembly and the same price band. Worth doing soon: cracks let dust and moisture reach the panel.
The LCD or OLED panel is damaged
Coloured lines, bleeding patches or a dark corner mean the panel itself has failed. The whole assembly is replaced, and touch usually comes back with it because the digitiser is part of the new unit.
The touch layer has stopped registering
Sometimes a connector, more often the digitiser bonded to the glass. We check the connector first in the free diagnostic, and if that is all it is you may not need a new screen.
Usually the panel, occasionally the board
Flicker and colour tints point to a failing OLED or its flex cable. We test with a known good screen before quoting, so you are not paying for a panel if the fault is elsewhere.
The phone is alive, the screen is not
Good news: your data is almost certainly fine. Either the display has failed or a fall has unseated its connector. Both are quick to confirm on the bench.
