Phone charging port repair in London, cleaned or replaced
Charging only at an angle, cable falling out, or not charging at all? Bring your phone to Bloomsbury or Moorgate. We check and clean the port first, because pocket lint is a common cause, and replace it only if it has actually failed. Free diagnostic first, and if we cannot fix it you pay nothing.
Straight answer: if your phone charges only at an angle, keeps disconnecting or will not charge, the charging port is the usual suspect. InstaTech London starts with a free diagnostic that checks the port, the cable, the charger and the battery. Often a careful clean is enough; if the port has failed we replace it, with a warranty on parts and labour. Bring the phone to 67 Marchmont Street (Bloomsbury) or 16 City Road (Moorgate). No appointment is needed. We repair charging ports on iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and most other phones.

Tap what your phone is doing
Port, cable, charger and battery faults look alike. The free diagnostic tells us which one it is before any work starts.
The contacts are worn or blocked
If the cable only works held at an angle, the pins inside the port are no longer making a clean contact. Packed lint is the most common reason; worn or bent pins are the other. We clean first, then replace the port if the contacts are damaged.
Lint is stopping the plug seating
Pocket fluff compresses into a hard layer at the back of the port, so the plug cannot click fully in. A careful clean with the right tools often fixes it. Please don’t dig in with a pin or a metal clip: it can short or bend the contacts.
We test each part on the bench
A phone that will not charge at all can have a failed port, a damaged cable or charger, or a battery that has stopped taking charge. We test the whole charging path, so you only pay for what has actually failed. If it is the battery, see our battery replacement.
Often the cable, sometimes the port
Try a different cable and a wall charger you know works. If it is still slow, a damaged pin in the port can stop fast charging from engaging. The free diagnostic shows which part is at fault.
Unplug it and let the port dry
A moisture or “accessory not supported” warning usually means liquid or debris in the port. Unplug the cable and don’t force it to charge. If the warning stays once the phone is dry, the port may be corroding. Bring it in, and see our water damage repair.

Charging port repair FAQ
Usually because lint or worn contacts stop the plug from seating fully, so it only connects when held at an angle. A careful clean often fixes it; if the pins are worn or bent, the port is replaced.
Yes, and we always try that first. Many ports that seem broken are packed with pocket lint. If cleaning doesn’t restore a solid connection, we tell you before replacing anything.
